The spherical tent is a new type of camping tent with a near-spherical shape, first appearing in a campsite in a small English town in May 2013. It uses a canopy-suspended method, secured to the ground approximately 3 meters above the ground by eight ropes. The frame is made of ash wood and recycled aluminum, with a waterproof cotton cover. The tent structure includes an A-frame main pole, a left-side curved pole, and a right-side curved pole, with the curved poles crossed at both ends for easy setup and adjustable angle. The interior features a double bed that folds into a bench, a floor made of pine planks that can be rolled up to form a portable case, and is equipped with an LED lighting system and a stove with a wood-burning function.
Due to its circular structure, this type of tent distributes wind pressure evenly, providing stability and wind resistance, and has gained popularity among camping enthusiasts. In 2025, the Guanyindang Stargazing Campsite in Wugong Mountain Scenic Area, Pingxiang, will add spherical tents, equipped with underfloor heating and a moisture-proof mat, offering a Milky Way observation experience. Reservations must be made one week in advance, and the cost is 200 RMB per person including rental. Some of the dome tents are made of environmentally friendly materials, which aligns with the concept of sustainable tourism.
